Greetings from Texas

Howdy everyone!

System Administrator from North Texas checking in. Cheers!

Hey John!

I spend a fair amount of time in North Texas. My wife went to UNT and we have family in Denton. I also spend a few months a year in Austin. Glad to have another Texan in the community!

P.S.
I’m suuuuuuper into a good proper Texas-style smoked brisket. I may have some tips & tricks if you’re interested.

@gmiranda23 - I can’t say I’m not hurt that you haven’t offered @mforan or myself any of such tips before. Expat Texans need brisket, too. The world needs brisket.

I see a food category coming in the future. :cut_of_meat:

Also: welcome @JohnMartin!

There’s a chance I was blinded by the thought of real Texas BBQ. Sorry about that!

Haha, no worries - it happens to the best of us

@gmiranda23 I might have to take you up on that! Have you ever been to Hutchins in McKinney? My recommendation is to fast for a day and go there for the all-you-can eat brisket. It’s a powerful experience.

@JohnMartin That sounds like more brisket than you can shake a stick at. I was thinking that I’ve never in my life seen “all you can eat brisket”, but then I realized I’m pretty much fixin to eat all I can whenever I go for it. It’s better to have more brisket and not eat it than to need to eat more brisket and not have it. I will certainly go check that out!

@jcurreee The only problem there is that I could give you all the tips you want, but those California “spare the air” days might mean you got another thing comin. Maybe we need to sponsor more events in Texas to make up for it.
